Year 6 Map Work 17th January 2022
Today, each class in Year 6 spent some time completing map work outside. Firstly, the children looked at some maps of Scotland an identified key localities: lochs, mountains, rivers. After looking at the maps of Scotland and comparing them, they looked at different ordnance survey symbols and identified what each one represented.
After looking at maps, the children used a compass and orientated themselves on the school playground. In addition, they measured distance using their strides.
After completing all this, they completed an orienteering hunt where they had to use their new skills to find flags across the school grounds.
