Year 3
Today, we looked at our country in South America... Brazil!
The children enjoyed using an atlas and Digi-maps online to locate South America, and identify where in the continent Brazil is. They found the capital city and other major cities, and located them on their maps.
We then looked at physical and human features of Brazil. The children had fun testing their memory to find the Amazon Rainforest and River, which linked back to our previous Geography topic.
In the afternoon, we learnt about carnivals in Brazil. We watched a video and discussed the music, costumes and traditions.
They then had fun designing and creating their own carnival mask and writing a postcard home to recount what a trip to Rio De Janeiro had been like.
The children are now looking forward to learning a carnival dance next half term.
Here are a few photos from the day!
