Pupil Voice
At HJS we value and welcome the views of our pupils. We feel it is important for our pupils to have opportunities throughout their time with us to develop confidence to take on a variety of roles. By taking on leadership roles, pupils can share ideas about their learning, work with staff and governors to help improve the provision in different areas of school and most importantly of all...understand how they can help to make a difference!
Pupils go through an election process - writing an application, presenting to the class-mates why they feel they would be a good candidate for a particular role in school and finally being elected to a particular role. They then attend different meetings with staff and governors - allowing them the chance to share views and listen to others. Working together with other representatives from different year groups, they are able to contribute new ideas and help to plan for changes in school.
We have different roles within school for pupils to consider:
School Councillors;
Wellbeing Champions;
Sports Crew;
Eco-Councillors.
*Due to Covid restrictions, we have taken the decision that during the academic year 2020-21, the above roles will be merged into one focus group. They will be our 'Class Ambassadors'.
