RSE Consultation Meeting - Parents

14th September 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

As a part of your child’s education at Hamstead Junior School, we promote personal wellbeing and development through our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme. PSHE education is the curriculum subject that gives children the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and meet their full potential.                                                                                                                                 Hamstead Junior School already has in place a progressive PSHE curriculum – ‘Healthy Mind, Happy Me’. I am writing to let you know that our school will be adopting DfE guidance in relation to Relationships and Health education. As a school, we are beginning the process of consultation with parents about our ‘Relationships and Health Education’ curriculum and policy.                                                                                                                                                                           We would like to invite you to attend a parent information meeting on Tuesday 21st September at 3:40pm. This will be led by Sandwell PSHE Lead Emily Morgan. This meeting will provide parents/carers with the opportunity to find out more about the rationale of what your child will learn, view some materials and resources being used in lessons and discover how you can best support your child to discuss these topics at home. Unfortunately, the meeting is only for parents and carers – not pupils.                                                                                                                                         Please complete the slip below to confirm your attendance at the meeting and allow us to make appropriate arrangements. As a school community, we are committed to working in partnership with parents, therefore it is particularly important that the views of parents and carers are included as part of this policy and curriculum development. This is our opportunity to shape this very important curriculum and ensure that it meets the needs of all our children and young people. If you are interested in finding out more information, we would urge you to attend the meeting. We look forward to seeing many of you there. If you are unable to attend, some information with be shared with parents on the school website as part of the consultation process.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr.N.Fowler                                                                                                                                                                                            Acting Headteacher ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………Relationship and Health Education – Parent Meeting Attendance
