End of Term Information

14th July 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are now approaching the end of what has been another challenging year – certainly not one that we all expected! We have all had to adapt to many new challenges and had to make changes in all aspects of our lives. Throughout this, your children have been amazing as they have adapted to new ways of working, playing and moving around school and its environment. We are immensely proud of them all for the resilience and the maturity that they have shown.

As we come to the start of the next school year, we hope that we can all return to mixing more freely and learning and playing together. We will look to keep some of the changes that have been made, details are set out below, and we very much hope that we are able to invite you into school once again to be part of your child’s learning journey.

Below are some reminders and slight changes that we are moving towards from September. As part of the children’s transition to their new classes, they will have the opportunity to meet their new class teachers on Monday 19th July.

Class 3JC – will move to Mrs Bartholomew

Class 3JB – will move to Mr Baines

Class 4JB – will move to Mr Hiley

Class 4CB – will move to Mrs Curley

*Year 5 classes will be mixed and taught by:

Class 6SM – Mrs Mercer (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) Miss Haywood (Wed)

Class 6SK/SM - Mrs Kaur (Mon, Fri) and Mrs Hinkley (Tues, Wed, Thurs)

Drop Off/Collection

School will revert back to pre-Covid timings. This will mean that gates will open for ALL classes at 8.40am. Gates will be closed at 8.50am to allow 10 minutes for children to filter into their classes ready for the start of the school day at 8.50am. Any child arriving after this time will need to report to the main school office where they will be recorded as late. School will finish at 3.25pm for ALL classes.

We will still operate four entrance/exit points around school.

Year 3 – School Playground (Blue gate)

Year 4 – Tanhouse Avenue (School gate)

Year 5 – Hamstead Road (Bottom gate)

Year 6 – Hamstead Road (Top gate)

Pupils with siblings in other year groups will be held by school staff until parents are able to collect them.

Personal Equipment

We will continue to ask children to limit what they bring into school. Children will not need to bring in personal stationery as school will continue to provide individual packs in school. Wherever possible, we ask that children only bring a small bag/box to hold sandwiches and bring in Reading bags (provided by school) to hold reading books and homework. Only children in Year 5/6 may bring in mobile phones if needed for safety reasons when travelling to and from school.

School Uniform/PE Kits

School uniform plays an integral part of day-to-day life in school. By wearing a school uniform, pupils demonstrate a pride and personal commitment to the school. It also allows for equality as pupils wear a common uniform to show that they belong to the same school. We ask that all parents support school in ensuring that your child is wearing school uniform every day. This includes wearing appropriate school shoes – not trainers.

From September, we are introducing a school PE kit to ensure high standards within sports lessons. This should include: a plain white t-shirt, plain black shorts (or leggings for girls), suitable trainers for indoor or outdoor use. We ask for a plain grey or black tracksuit to be worn in colder weather and/or for religious or cultural reasons. We discourage any PE clothing with large logos and branding. ALL children should come dressed in their PE kits on their PE days.

Please ensure that your child's school clothing is clearly marked with their name.

If you have any issues with purchasing any of these items, please contact the school office.

*Earrings should be studs only, which should be removed for PE lessons and swimming.  No other jewellery (necklaces, bracelets) are allowed - other than a wristwatch.

A reminder that the school term finishes on Wednesday 21st July and we return to school on Monday 6th September 2021.

Finally, all staff and governors would like to thank all parents and carers for the co-operation, support and understanding you have shown over this difficult year. We look forward to a new year ahead. We wish you all a very happy and enjoyable summer break together!

Yours sincerely,
