Class Dojo

September 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are always looking for ways to improve communication with parents. Therefore, I want to inform you of a couple of changes ready for the 2021-22 academic year.

As a school, we have made the decision to use Class Dojo in every class this year. Many of you may be familiar with this from the Infants school. We hope that this will help to keep you updated with events in your child’s class and also their progress and rewards through the Dojo system. When pupils complete positive work within school or display positive behaviour and attitudes they will be rewarded with individual ‘dojos’ and these will act as our House Team points.

The Class Dojo system will also aid with communication between class teachers and parents, as teachers will be able to keep you updated with some of the work taking place in school and use it as reminders for parents. Having trialled it within Year 3, we feel that it will also aid with Remote Learning (when needed) as images of work can be easily uploaded to pupil folders and feedback given.

I must stress to parents however, that this is not a way of communication for all issues in school. If you have an individual issue/concern, we kindly ask that you use the agreed process for such incidents. This is as follows:

  • In the first instance, we ask that concerns are raised with your child’s class teacher either at the school gate or by contacting the school office to arrange a meeting/telephone call with the class teacher. This is important so that the class teacher is aware of the issue and can investigate first to try to find a resolution.
  • Following contact with the class teacher, if the matter has not been resolved, this will be followed up by a member of the Senior Management Team in school who will investigate further.
  • A meeting/telephone may need to be arranged with the parent/carer to discuss the issue, if required, with the class teacher and/or myself and Mrs Kaur.

This process must be followed to ensure that your concern/query is dealt with as efficiently as possible. We ask for your support with this.

Thank you in advance for your support in these matters. We hope that this will allow for our communication with parents to continue to improve even further and for you to be kept informed with your child’s work and progress. If you need support with setting up Class Dojo, please contact the School Office or your child’s class teacher.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Fowler                                                                                                                                                                                             Acting Headteacher
