Music at HJS
Music at HJS!
HJS was awarded the Music Mark in 2022 in recognition of our continued commitment to promoting music. In awarding the mark the National Association for Music recognised that our school's 'dedication to a broad and balanced curriculum is inspiring.'
All of our children are musicians and are fortunate to learn how to play many different instruments in their time at Hamstead Junior School.
In Year 3 all children have weekly Ukulele lessons taught by Sandwell Music and Arts teacher Mr J. Cockshott.
In Year 4 all children have weekly singing and percussion lessons taught by class teachers.
In Year 5 all children have weekly Clarinet lessons taught by Sandwell Music and Arts teacher Mr B. Smith.
In Year 6 all children have weekly Rockband lessons taught by Sandwell Music and Arts teacher Mr J. Cockshott.
Please spend time viewing some of our work in the video library.
During the year, parents are invited to join us during year group concerts. These are enjoyable for all and give our pupils to opportunity to 'showcase' their talents!
Mrs Clayton and Mrs Harding run a well attended school choir who meet every week. We look for opportunities for them to perform throughout the year.
